<p>First let’s review some of the benefits of antioxidants.</p>
<p>You can almost say that your immune system is constantly under stress and attack. Antioxidants are key in helping your immune system get rid of pathogens. One of the ways antioxidants do this is to strengthen cell membranes. This greater integrity, in turn, makes it more difficult for pathogens to invade.</p>
<p>Antioxidant vitamins and supplements are known to help restore healthy cellular DNA. The benefit of this is by neutralizing free radicals, the process of warding off tumors and cancerous cells becomes more effective.</p>
<p>Inflammation has now been shown to be involved in a multitude of illnesses. By using an antioxidant, you are getting the benefits of reduced inflammation. This is critical.</p>
<p>There are many more benefits of incorporating antioxidants into your diet. But are vitamins effective too?</p>
<p>The first question you might want to ask yourself is whether your normal intake of whole foods is really adequate. A good method of finding this out is to keep a journal of what you are consuming.</p>
<p>Obviously, if you can get adequate antioxidant intake from natural foods, this is the best course of action to take.</p>

Observe if your diet is high in green leafy vegetables such as spinach, turnip greens, collards and broccoli. These are good sources of vitamin A too.</p>
<p>There are numerous other foods that provide antioxidants. In fact, there is very little that comes from a diverse garden which does not have antioxidant qualities. The problem is very few of us have a diet so diverse which we consume daily. Many of us are very deficient in these nutritious food.</p>
