Stress is a part of everyone’s life. All of us encounter stressful situations. There are a number of reasons that can cause stress. A stressor can be in the form of financial trouble, losing a job or losing a loved one.

Stress plays a purpose in life. Besides making our lives temporary miserable, stressful situations help us to become stronger people. When faced with a stressful situation there are a few things that we should do and there are quite a few others that we should not. Let us take a look at how to deal with stressful situations.

There is precious little we can do to change the stressors that cause stress. Instead of thinking along those lines we should try to deal with and manage stress. One of the best things to do when faced with stress is to get plenty of exercise. Exercise helps us to feel better about ourselves. It improves blood circulation and helps us to sleep better. When we exercise, the body releases hormones called endorphins into the blood stream. These hormones promote a sense of overall well being.

When we are overstressed we tend to go on binge eating sprees. Junk food can be quite addictive and eating foods such as hamburgers, doughnuts, pizza and milkshakes can give us a temporary good feeling.  Junk food is quit simply speaking not good for you. If you are going through a stressful situation, then it is easy to fall back on junk food. You should avoid it at all costs.

It almost sounds like a cliché when we say that junk food is low on nutrition and high on calories and saturated fat. Junk food is high on the glycemic index and we should condition our minds on avoiding such foods. We should put a lot of stress on eating for energy and nutrition. This can be done by eating fiber rich food, lean meat, vegetables and fruit.

Ensure that you get enough exercise and sunshine. Eat right and get plenty of fresh air. Following these simple rules will help you to deal with stress and get you back on your feet in very little time.
