Harness The Power Of Your Mind: Hypnosis Can Change Your Habits!

Mind hypnosis is a topic that is shrouded in fear and misconception.  People wondering about
being hypnotized sometimes worry about revealing embarrassing personal secrets to their
hypnotist or becoming a trained zombie assassin who can be unknowingly forced to perform any number
of criminal tasks.

The truth is that being hypnotized will not make any fundamental changes to which you are
seriously opposed.  The process of mind hypnotized involves ALLOWING yourself to relax
and adapt a trance-like or meditative state.  You can not be hypnotized without your
own consent.  Whether you realize it or not, you probably enter this trance-like hypnotic
state every evening when you sit down in front of the TV for a few hours.  Your body
is relaxed and your mind is focused.  Advertisers love this because it means that you
are suggestible at that time.  This is one reason why TV advertising is so effective as compared
to other types of advertising.

Why not turn this common, everyday state of physical relaxation and mental focus into
something that works FOR you as YOU CHOOSE rather than simply opening yourself up for
whatever messages someone else wants to program you with.  Through working with a
registered hypnotherapist or working at home with self-hypnosis tapes you buy or make
yourself, you can begin to take responsibility for imbedding your own chosen beliefs
into your lifestyle and push out beliefs that you've held in the past which are not
beneficial for you.  People have used mind hypnosis to overcome phobias, quit smoking and lose weight
as well as develop confidence and self esteem.

Why do I discuss mind hypnosis here, on a site about yoga?  For this reason - in the
stages of light meditation which you are likely to experience during your yoga practice,  you generally enter a slight trance-like state similar to that reached in deeper mind hypnosis.

You may have experienced
this feeling before when you were reading a good book and didn't hear Mom call you for dinner.
You may also remember a time when you were driving and were surprised to realize you
had reached your destination because you had lost track of time.

One characteristic of this state (associated with alpha-pattern brain waves) is that you
are more suggestible here.  If you are struggling to keep your attention on your meditation
as you begin, you might try combining it with some guided meditations to relax you
or guided self-hypnosis sessions. These sessions will help you learn to relax, and give
you something constructive to focus on and to occupy your mind and distract you
as you learn to make time in your schedule for your meditation practice or for those
times when you find that there's something very specific in your life that you
are trying to overcome.

Mind hypnosis and guided meditation are excellent compliments to a traditional meditation or yoga
practice.
