How To Choose The Best Yoga Meditation Music

By emily

Yoga Meditation Music

Although many people think of yoga as a form of fitness workout, the ancient practice of yoga comprises many health-oriented practices including exercise, deep breathing, and meditation.  Although many yoga classes incorporate some elements of meditation in their workout routines, learning how to meditate can really be a class unto itself.  Many people who meditate spend 30-60 minutes per day on the practice for the best results.

Yoga is a great way to not only improve your physical health but also your mental health. The positions and breathing exercises are meant to not only improve your strength and flexibility but to also clear your mind so that you can focus on the important things and meditate on everything from your own life to the world around you. To help you with this meditation, you should take the time to download yoga music. Such music will help your mind and body relax enough so that you can really center yourself. Yoga meditation music will help a person move away from environmental distractions so that they can clear the mind and focus on what is important.

How Do You Plan To Use Your Yoga Meditation Music?

One of the first things to consider when it comes time to download yoga meditation music is the kind of yoga you will be practicing. Different forms of yoga will need or require different kinds of focus. For example, if you are doing a more meditative or inspiration focused form of yoga, you may want yoga meditation music that is not intrusive but surrounds you. In this situation, it may help you to hear the same sound periodically – a flute, a gong, or drum are all great choices – because it will help you focus on what's important: your mind and the poses. Additionally, if you are learning a new yoga pose or are in a group setting, you may want music that you barely notice because you want to limit external distractions.

Personally, when I meditate, I use Holosync meditation CD's to ensure I get myself relaxed and focused for the most productive and efficient use of time.  That makes meditation more rewarding for me.

Active Yoga Workout Music Can Still Be Used During Meditation

Different music creates a different sense of atmosphere. Thus, when you choose yoga meditation music, you should think about the kind of atmosphere you are going for. If you want a more active form of yoga, you may want to go for a quick drum-like form of yoga meditation music, and if you are looking for something more peaceful or relaxing, then you might want to go for yoga meditation music that centers around harps and string instruments.

Incorporate Your Own Personal Tastes

The more you do yoga and the more music you listen to, the more you will know about your personal tastes in regards to yoga meditation music. You may find with time that you enjoy music with words, or you may discover you find drums more effective to strings or vice versa. Pay attention to how your mind and body respond to different forms of yoga meditation music, and it will help you narrow down your hunt.

If you haven't already, you might try a few of my favorites - experiment with listening to nature sounds on CD or Indian yoga music for a fun cultural flair.
